Organizations

If you are experiencing a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), you are not alone. In fact, in part due to the large number of persons who suffer from RSI’s, there are also a relatively large number or organizations out there that have valuable information for the RSI community.

These RSI organizations may have information on research, assistance, standards, networking, support groups, and more. Realize that even if you are unable to find an organization that is focused directly on RSI, another organization could help.

For instance, an organization that focuses on ergonomics, work-related injuries, work environments, etc. can also be of great use… the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Department of Labor, the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety Health are all great government-related organizations.

There are also many professional organizations that relate to the RSI community: American Chiropractic Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthritis Foundation, and the North American Institute of Manual Therapy are just a few professional organizations worth looking into.

Some organizations are specifically for the worker: Americans With Work-Related Injuries, The Association for Repetitive Motion Syndromes, LaborNet, and Coalition on New Office Technology.

Realize that all of the organizations (and there many more out there) have valuable information that can be of great use to anyone within the RSI community. Also, realize that it is a good idea to get different viewpoints on RSI – get viewpoints from the government, employers, workers, and persons in the medical field, etc. The more information that you can get (and from many different resources), the better-informed and better-prepared you will be to deal with or teach about or prevent an RSI.

Here are a few organizations that you may want to check out:

RSI Action

ARMS - Association for Repetitive Motion Syndromes

Sorehand

While not all of the abovementioned RSI organizations will be local to your area, they still have very valuable information on them. These organizations are well worth checking out!
