Keyboard Supports

Keyboard supports are an important accessory for your computer. Reducing the risk of RSI, or repetitive strain injury, is a major concern for many companies with employees doing repetitive work. Typing can be very damaging to the hands, wrists and arms and keyboard supports help alleviate this problem. When using your keyboard supports there are a few things you should keep in mind:

· Make sure your keyboard is low enough to relax your shoulders. Keeping your shoulders down and relaxed will reduce tension leading to shoulder, back and neck aches, as well as tension headaches.

· Your elbows should never be higher than your keyboard, not only is it uncomfortable, but it will lead to serious injury if done repetitively.

· A keyboard support will help you relax your wrists and forearms, reducing the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome.

· The palms of hands, while typing, should be kept parallel to the keyboard. A keyboard support will help with this.

· Keyboard supports should cushion your wrists, but still be firm enough to hold them straight and level with the keyboard.

Keyboard supports can be beneficial for any typist in a workplace environment. If you do not have one for your keyboard, notify the person in charge of ordering supplies. Keyboard supports are fairly inexpensive, and a great investment for your health.
